You may have heard of us refer to this term in some of our messaging.
It sounds like snobby designer club.
Sorry but you're not fully fashioned darling. Hangs up.
Before any feelings get hurt we're here to set the record straight on this term.
Fully Fashioned refers to how the garment is made.
In the world of fashion manufacturing, there are a variety of ways to make your clothes, but most clothing is made using the cut and sew method.
This is the default technique where fabric is cut into shapes—like front and back panels, sleeves, and collars—and then stitched together to create the garment.
But here’s the thing about cut and sew.
When you cut fabric into flat pieces, you’re left with seams - where the pieces are stitched together—those make visible lines. While this is a great technique for mass production (and it’s relatively inexpensive), it often leads to garments feeling stiff or less fluid, to awkward fit issues, puckering, or excess material in places where you don’t want it.
Fully Fashioned. Is a little fancier therefore more expensive.
Fully Fashioned knits directly into the shape of the garment. So instead of cutting out separate pieces of fabric and stitching them together, the garment is created in one continuous piece (or several shaped pieces) right from the knitting machine. Each section of the garment—like the body, the sleeves, and the collar—is knitted to fit exactly as it needs to, no additional stitching or adjustments required.
This is how our Flakii range has been made, fully fashioned.
The result? A garment that's a firm fit. No extra fabric, no bulky seams—just a smooth, knitted contour that hugs your body in all the right places.
And because the fabric is shaped as it’s being knitted, there’s far less off cuts compared to cut-and-sew.
You simply get a cleaner finish and durable garment that’s designed to hold its shape longer—without stretching out or losing structure.
So when a garment says that it's Fully Fashioned, you now know that it's a more thoughtful production process, setting it apart from the pieces you’ll find in most stores.
